Several seniors have expressed an interest in going for a fast 10k at this year's Trafford 10k, to be held on March 13th at 09.30. The flat, one lap course winds through the leafy lanes of footballer-belt Cheshire, and boasts a course record of 28:14 for men and 32:29 for women. In 2015, the first 50 in the men's race (won in 29:18 by Jonathan Davies) dipped under 32 minutes, with our own Nathan Reed in 50th with a very creditable 31:59. Alyson Dixon won the women's race in the course record noted above. 841 runners finished last year, 751 of whom covered the distance in under an hour. The race has been nominated in the Best 10k Category in the National Running Awards and comes highly recommended by Graham Lancaster and Andy Powell, among others.
Entry for the race, via www.racenumber.co.uk, is £13 (UKA affiliated, £15 non-affiliated) and entrants can order finisher's medal or t-shirts for an additional fee. Closing date for entries is March 3rd.
The relatively early start time will likely entail an overnight stay on the Saturday; athletes should organise their own race entries and let Albert know if they intend heading across the M62 the day before the race.
