Following tenacious work by Debra James, Sunderland Harriers have purchased a Defibrillator from Cardioproof to be stored handily at trackside for use in any cardiac emergency during track sessions.
Although the Ski Lodge possesses its own machine, time is vital in a cardiac emergency. The trackside position will save precious minutes, and our defibrillator will also be transported to events at which the Club is participating.
Saturday 16th October 2021 is designated as National Restart A Heart Day. So in advance of that day on Friday 15th October there is to be a "Resuscitation Talk" and instruction in the use of the Defibrillator in the "Heritage Room" of the Ski Lodge.
Space is limited to about thirty people in that room whose number will include some five medical students. Debra has already begun contacting Club members who are likely to be most often in the vicinity of the machine and is awaiting replies before an attendance list is finalised.
