ARE WE EATING PROPERLY?

Are we eating properly?

Train hard, race hard, and your times will improve, yes? Well it usually works. Sometimes though you suddenly start to struggle with the training or in races, a pace you were once comfortable with now seems beyond you, you feel weak, exhausted and unhappy with your performance. What could be wrong? We all have busy lives and other things going on apart from running, it could be almost anything from infections, lack of sleep, work, children, school, lifestyle or balancing family life. It could be the amount of training or races we are doing and recovery we are taking, but it could also be as simple as, are we eating enough?

This is especially relevant to the female athletes, most of the men don’t seem to have a problem with this, (now there’s a surprise), while some of the girls can get caught up with not putting on weight. Being thin does not make you run faster, but eating properly will help you achieve your potential.

Are We Eating Properly?.

Look after yourself and make sure you are eating enough of a well balanced healthy diet. You are working hard, depriving your body of the fuel it needs might be a factor in your drop in performance it could also lead to repetitive illnesses such as colds and flu as well as fatigue, possibly feeling faint and general tiredness.

I’m not saying you can eat your way to the gold medal, believe me I’ve tried, that comes from determination and hard work, don’t undermine it by not eating properly.
